John Arthur Mansell, born April 5, 1944, in Mobile, and longtime resident of Baldwin County, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at a local hospital. He was 68 years old.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Hemphill Mansell and his father, Dieu Leon Mansell. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lee West Mansell; mother-in-law, Edith Tuner West; two sister-in-laws Judy West and Forrest West Galey; nephew, Sean Galey and many close friends. Mansell received his M.S. degree in Counseling and Guidance from Troy State University, Montgomery. He served in the U.S. Air Force where he was chief of police and security during his military career. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed assembling model airplanes and trains. His family would like to thank South Baldwin Regional Medical Center and Odyssey Hospice for their wonderful services. In addition thank you to all that visited John in the hospital before he passed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting to make donations to Odyssey Hospice at 7801 Mesquite Bend Drive Suite 105 Irving, TX 75083, or Foley Intermediate’s Relay for Life Team at 2000 South Cedar Street Foley, AL in his name.
