John Bryan Wilson, 78, a native of Andalusia and long-time resident of Gulf Shores, died Tuesday, Oct. 5 2010 after struggling for over a year with a debilitating illness.
He earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Auburn University in 1954 and enlisted as an officer in the United States Air Force after graduation, earning his “wings” as a jet fighter pilot and later flew refueling tankers. After completing his service to our country, he entered the construction industry and retired after almost 50 years of building. He loved to hunt, fish and tend to his duties at his church.
A beloved, honest, forgiving, compassionate and selfless man, well respected by his community, he will surely be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Wilson of Gulf Shores; son, Michael (Tina) Wilson; and his beloved granddaughter, Kim, all of the Fish River Community.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11 at St. Andrew by the Sea in Gulf Shores.
The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Andrew by the Sea Church in Gulf Shores or the Alabama Sheriffs’ Boys Ranch in Summerdale.
Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, Robertsdale.
