John Edward Barton, 79, born in Birmingham and a resident of Bay Minette, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at Oakwood Nursing Home. He was a safety manager (retired) at Reichhold Chemical. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Burt Barton of Bay Minette; two children, John (Susan) Barton of Florence, Ala. and Melinda (Barry) Grimes of Spanish Fort; and five grandchildren, Chris Barton, Brian Barton, Jessica Barton, Johnathan Grimes and Elizabeth Grimes.
Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at 10 a.m., at Bay Minette Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Carr officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the John Barton Memorial Fund at United Bank for medical expenses.
