John J. “J.J.” Jones, 88, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., a longtime resident of Biloxi, Miss., and a resident of Foley, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at a local healthcare facility.
He was a World War II and Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W. He was also a member of Joppa Shrine and the Fellowship Blue Lodge in Biloxi, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Jones; and a son Jeffrey Jones.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice “Lynn” Schultz of Montgomery and Judith Hughes of Foley; five grandchildren, Suze Long, David Long, Shawn Hughes, all of Montgomery, Shannon Brewer and Shane Hughes, both of Foley; one great-granddaughter, Clara Morgan Long of Montgomery; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at Pine Rest Funeral Home with funeral services at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607.
