John Lennon bus returns to Gulf Shores High, Hangout

GULF SHORES, AL - The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus (Lennon Bus), the state-of-the-art mobile recording studio, will make its return to Gulf Shores to provide students at Gulf Shores High School a hands-on experience with audio and video production at Hangout Music Festival.

The bus will be on site at Gulf Shores High School on Wednesday, May 18 to engage students in creative production projects using some of the latest technologies. The Lennon Bus crew will also unite with the students to “imagine peace” by forming a human peace sign on campus at 8:30 a.m.

During Hangout Music Festival, May 19-22, the Lennon Bus tent will feature an interactive “touch and try” experience with Canon U.S.A., Inc., allowing festival attendees to check out some of the latest Canon cameras and technologies. In addition, the Lennon Bus will be giving away more than $7,500 worth of music and production gear each day of the festival to lucky attendees who visit the Lennon Bus tent and follow @lennonbus. Winners will selected each day of the festival.

A group of Gulf Shores students will join the Lennon Bus at the popular music festival to work alongside the Lennon Bus crew and have the chance to interview some of the artists featured at the festival, including Matt & Kim, Alabama Shakes, Cage the Elephant, BORNS and more.

In support of the student creativity and arts education at Gulf Shores High School, the Lennon Bus will donate music and production gear valued at $2,500 and includes:

Epiphone Casino guitar and case

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones

OWC On-The-Go Pro HD 1TB hard drive

Neutrik custom John Lennon Educational Tour Bus cable and connectors

Yamaha YPG-235 Keyboard & SKD2 Survival Kit

During the day on May 18 at Gulf Shores High School, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. there will be a student audio and video recording session. At 1 p.m. the gear donation will be made.

The peace sign formation is scheduled for 8:30 AM on the football field. There will be opportunities for footage of students working with the bus beginning at 9:00 AM. Please contact Ryan L'Esperance (805-268-2230) upon your arrival to the school

Since 2011, Hangout Festival has brought the Lennon Bus to provide today's best artistic talent with a professional state-of-the-art suite on wheels and the chance to give back to the Gulf Shores community. The concept began as an offshoot of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, dedicated to providing opportunities for both professional and amateur songwriters around the world; proceeds from which help support the Lennon Bus.

The Lennon Bus travels across the U.S. and Canada year-round, providing free tours and workshops at schools, retailers, festivals, on tours with headlining artists, and at major industry conferences. Lennon Bus Europe began providing these same opportunities to the young people of Europe when it launched in Liverpool in May 2013.
