Mr. John Newton Stanford, 89, a native of Cottonwood, and a resident of Bay Minette, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his residence.
He was self-employed (retired) in the landscaping business and the pest control business. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay Minette; member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge No.498, F & A.M.and member of Abba Temple Shrine. He is survived by his daughters, Rosemary Tigrett, Fairhope, Janice A. Stanford, Bay Minette, and Jean (Dr. David) Clarkson, Fairhope; four grandchildren, Ashley Sassone, John Clarkson, Betsy Glenday, Peyton Clarkson and one great-grandchild, Morgan Rylee Sassone; his brother, Edward Stanford, Pensacola, and sister, Dean Arnold, Dothan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Hall Stanford. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Bay Minette, with the Reverend Stuart Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted at graveside by Bay Minette Lodge No. 498, F.& A.M. Pallbearers will be Tim Simpson, Ashley Sassone, John Clarkson, Peyton Clarkson, Nigel Glenday and William Hall. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. service at First Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home, 402 E.
