John Peper Wildnauer

John Peper Wildnauer, 89 a native of Woodhaven, N.Y., former resident of White Plains, N.Y., and a resident of Spanish Fort died Tuesday, April 10, 2012.

 “John” served in the U.S. Army during WWII, from private to captain, in infantry and port operations. He  earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. He was the first head of the Department of General Services, serving under four county executives. 

 He was an adjunct professor at Fordham University Graduate School of Public Affairs. He was a member of Rotary International (White Plains, N.Y., and Daphne,) the American Society for Public Administration, Government Finance Officers Association, Alpha Ci Rho social fraternity. 

John is preceded in death by his parents, August Frederick and Millie Peper Wildnauer; his brother August F. Wildnauer. He is survived by his  wife, Helen Spencer Wildnauer, Spanish Fort; daughter, Virginia Gravallese (Al,) Leesburg, Vir.; son, John P. Wildnauer Jr, (Ann) of Perkasie, Penn.; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

 A celebration of John’s life will be Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m. at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. Services will be later at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to your favorite charity.
