John T. “Jack” Thomas Sr., 86, a native of Tampa, Fla. and a Montrose resident for more than 63 years, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014.

Mr. Thomas was a graduate of the University of Florida.

He was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church.

Jack was a loving father as well as a member of the Baldwin County Historical Society and very active in community service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel McInnis Thomas; and son, Boots Thomas.

Jack is survived by his sons, Thorn Thomas and wife Beth of Fairhope, Michael Thomas and wife Barbara of Fairhope and Daniel Thomas and wife Millie of Charlotte, N.C.; daughters, Kista Dorgan of Montrose, Karen Behl of Auburn, Ill., Tina Ridge and husband Stephen of Houston, Texas; a very special member of the family, Mary Ann Peters; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held from Trinity Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at 3:30 pm.

Interment will follow in Montrose Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Mulherin Custodial Home, 2496 Halls Mill Road, Mobile, AL 36606.
