John William Ballantyne, age 82, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018.
He was a graduate of Germantown Academy and attended Temple University.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Fairhope, served with the Baptist International Mission Board and was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ballantyne of Fairhope; sons, John W. (Lisa) Ballantyne Jr. of Montgomery, Thomas (Milagros) Ballantyne of Bedford, Texas and Christopher (Kecia) Ballantyne of Caledonia, Michigan; daughter, Jennifer (Dirk) Flad of Fairhope; grandchildren, Daniel, Katherine, Michael, Heather, Jacob Ballantyne and Andrew Flad; three great-grandchildren; sister, Dolores Smith of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of John's life will be held Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Fairhope at 11 a.m.
The family will begin receiving friends at 10 a.m.
