John William Bengtson, 61, a native of Robertsdale and resident of Summerdale died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011.
Mr. Bengtson was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam era, including a 13-month tour in Korea.
He retired after 32 years from Monsanto, and loved tractors and dove hunting.
He was a loving father and grandfather, and is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah Graham Bengtson of Summerdale; two sons, Britton (Ashley) Bonner of Fairhope and Brant Bengtson of Summerdale; one daughter, Heather (Les) White of Gainesville, Fla.; father, Bill Bengtson Sr. of Robertsdale; three brothers, Bill (Regina) Bengtson of Robertsdale, Steve (Lisa) Bengtson of Gulf Shores and Charles (Connie) Bengtson of Daphne; four grandchildren, LeeAnn and Katie Bonner, and Brantley and Hayden White; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Pat Madden officiating.
Burial will be in Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale.
A visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Mack Funeral Home.
