Lonnie Johnson, 75, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at the William F. Green Veteran’s Home in Bay Minette.

He was a native of Crossroads and a resident of Rabun for the past four years; a veteran of the U.S. Army; a retired employee from International Paper after 28 years; owner of Alonzo’s In and Out Tire Service in Clanton; and attended the New Testament Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Johnson of Rabun; two sons, Richard Johnson and Johnny Johnson, both of White House Fork; daughter, Sondra Chapman of Crossroads; four stepsons, Tracey Stewart, Michael Stewart and Marcus Stewart, all of Rabun and Jeffery Stewart of Dyas; stepdaughter, Wanda Holman of Perdido; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lester Johnson of Lafayette, La., Carl Johnson of Mobile and Lorenzo Johnson of Crossroads; and a sister, Maxine Bowen of Crossroads.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 8 at the New Testament Church in Rabun with Marie Jordon and Terry McNeil officiating. Burial followed at Johnson Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dale Johnson, Wayne Hadley, Tommy Geek, Ernie Anderson, Richard Anderson and David Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Wilson and Bud Stewart.

Arrangements were made by Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Atmore.
