James Raymond Joiner, 79, a native and lifelong resident of Rabon, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at a Mobile hospital.
He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and Vietnam, a mason of Bay Minette Lodge #498 and attended the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Steven Joiner.
Survivors include his wife, Mazie H. Joiner of Rabon; son, Rodney Scott Joiner of Ridgely, W.Va.; two step-sons, Roi Lamar Hadley and Thomas Earl Hadley, both of Perdido; four daughters, Rosa Ellen Twigg of Mt. Savage, Md., Pamela Regina Allen, Brenda Lee Karpanty and Audrey Lynn Robinson, all of Bay Minette; three step-daughters, Darlene Stewart of Bay Minette, Pauline Weaver of Crossroads and Tammy Stewart of Bay Minette; 12 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and nine step-geat-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, July 1 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 2 at the funeral home with Brother Glen Whitfield and Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial with military honors followed at Dean Cemetery.
Pallbearers were a military honor guard. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Simpson, Will Robinson, Kaiser Karpanty, Kennedy Karpanty, Colby Joiner, Joseph Weaver and W.M. Stewart.
