MOBILE, Ala. — Tjaden O’Dowd and Matthew Madonia will be in recital with pianist Dr Robert Holm accompanying on Aug. 8, at 3 p.m., in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall on the University of South Alabama campus in Mobile.

This is a joint recital showcasing two young, yet already accomplished artists. Classical music, contemporary English composers and modern musical theater will be featured, along with some special surprises. These artists will sing and string to offer a sometimes poignant and sometimes playful musical program.

O’Dowd will graduate in 2011 from James Madison University as a music theater major and plans to continue her studies in graduate school. She is a soprano who began voice lessons at age 17 with the late Georgette Reim of Mobile and currently studies with Dr. Dorothy Maddison and has performed with the Mobile Opera, toured with the Chemnitz Opera and originated a role in JMU’s production of “Originals.”

Madonia will graduate from the University of Notre Dame in 2012 with a violin performance major as a Michuda Music Scholarship student. He is the 2010 concertmaster for the University of Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra and Notre Dame Opera Symphony.

Both students are products of Catholic education in the area.
