Robert Edwin “Bob” Jones, 73, a native of Trussville, former resident of New Orleans and a resident of Fairhope, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009.
He dedicated his life to serving others as a social worker, retiring from the State of Louisiana and Gulf Coast Teaching Family Services.
He was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope, Baldwin Senior Travelers and many other organizations. He was a Mason for over 50 years.
He will be missed by many friends and his family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley McComic Jones, and his parents, William Boyer and Gwendolyn Groome Jones.
Survivors include two children, Robin (Scott) Rogers of Murphy, N.C., and Dara (Kenny) Smith of Ocean Springs, Miss.; four grandchildren, Scott Dorand, Sharla Smith, David Clarke and Davin Smith; two sisters, Ann Bradford and Sue (Jim) Simmons, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope. Visitation will follow.
