Joseph Alton Smith, age 63, a native of Atmore and a resident of Fairhope, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012.
“Poppa Joe”, how he was affectionately known, was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the local VFW and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Sertoma Club. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ann Smith of Fairhope; children, Mike Hardy of Grand Bay, Kathy Hardy of Grand Bay, Jeff Hardy of Ft. Walton, Patty Hardy of Mobile, Amy O’Brien of Loxley and Corey Smith of North Dakota; brother, Pat Smith of Atmore; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends and his beloved cat, Lilly. A memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 4 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Fairhope. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Haven, P. O.
