FOLEY — A popular six-piece band that combines contemporary, soul, funk and R&B genres will take the stage this weekend in Foley.

Josh Hoyer and The Shadowboxers are set to perform at Moe’s Original Bar B Que, 20733 Miflin Road in Foley, at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 17.

This group brings an authentic soul, funk and R&B sound with a contemporary groove that is best experienced through their high-energy live performance. Hoyer’s authentic lyrics, his soulful (sometimes in-your-face) vocals and a top-notch band, including a blazing horn section make this group worth a listen.

Hoyer formed The Shadowboxers in 2012 in famed blues town Lincoln, Nebraska, where he had already been in high musical demand for more than a decade. The six-piece soul band includes some of the area’s most revered and accomplished musicians, and their talents are prominently displayed through a tight sound and professional solos. The electricity that comes from a JHATS jam will make your arm hair stand on end.

The Shadowboxers have shared a stage with or opened for acts like Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Monophonics, Sidewalk Chalk, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and The Tedeschi Trucks Band, just to name a few. Hoyer has also played/toured with Galactic, Magic Slim, E.C. Scott, The Soul of John Black and many more.
