Jubilation House Sculpture Garden to grace Fairhope

“Whimsical, full of energy and joyful,”…these words describe the Jubilation House sculpture. Fairhope’s 7-foot-by-7-foot-by-10 foot steel house sculpture with more than 50 wind-activated spinning fish will entice and excite visitors with an interactive experience to enter the House and view the colorful fish that will give the sculpture movement and energy as well as a stroll around the House to view the mosaic tile wall, or to sit on the custom art benches to relax and enjoy the merriment of Jubilation House.

This same merriment describes Mo Herndon Ray, an original BayART Project board member, who this piece celebrates. Mo’s personal and professional endeavors reflected her passion for art and her community. The Jubilation House will celebrate her contributions to and love for this magical place we call home.

Built in partnership with elementary age youth from our community, the Jubilation House will feature brilliantly colored fish, providing House guests with a vibrant visual and interactive experience. It will foster joy and inspire whimsy, just like Mo.

Get ready to paint

The project will have two artistic components that involve the sculpture itself: painting the house structure and painting the fish. Other aspects of the project will include documentation of the project in the form of video and writing as well as creating decorations for the public dedication ceremony, to be held on Saturday, May 4.

These opportunities for artistic involvement will reach more than 1,000 children of Fairhope Elementary School, Rotary Youth Club and our community through an open call to young artists (kindergarten through third grade).

An additional opportunity to have your child’s work permanently included in the Jubilation House Sculpture Garden includes the purchase of a $100, hand-painted architectural tile to be installed at the garden. A limited number of tiles will be painted in Fairhope with artist Ameri’ca Jones and BayART Project board members. Tiles may be purchased at the Windmill Market in Fairhope or online at www.thebayartproject.org/projects.

Want to help?

Show your support by making a donation or purchasing a commemorative Jubilation House T-shirt or pewter keepsake acai bracelet available at the Windmill Market in Fairhope or online at www.thebayartproject.org/projects.

Help us in creating a gift for our community, Mo inspired.
