"3">Judge Harry John Wilters Jr., 84, a native

of Robertsdale and a resident of Loxley, died Thursday, Sept. 15,

2011.

"3">Judge Wilters was preceded in death by his

father, Harry John Wilters Sr.; mother, Emmy Lou Killingsworth

Wilters; sister, Joan Wilters Hazen; and wife, Martha

Wilters.

"3">He is survived by wife, Verla L. Wilters

of Loxley; two sons, Dr. John (Taryn) Wilters of Nashville, Tenn.

and Judge Robert (Ame) Wilters of Foley; four grandchildren, Blaire

(Christopher) Baxter, Stone Wilters, Morgan Wilters and Taylor

Wilters.

"3">Judge Wilters was an Eagle Scout, and a

graduate of Robertsdale High School Class of 1945. He joined the

U.S. Army Air Corps in 1945 and served until 1947. He was stationed

in Japan with the Occupation Army.

"3">Judge Wilters was a graduate of the

University of Alabama and Cumberland School of Law in 1952. He

practiced law in Baldwin County until 1975 when he was elected

Circuit Court Judge. He served as Presiding Circuit Judge from 1975

until 1989, and served Baldwin County as Retired Circuit Judge

until 2010. He also served as a special appointed Justice of the

Alabama Supreme Court on at least two

occasions.

"3">He was State Commander of the Veterans of

Foreign Wars, and was also a 32-degree Mason and a member of the

Jesters. Before becoming a judge, he was an Auxiliary State

Trooper. He also served as an instructor of business law at

Faulkner State Community College.

"3">He loved to fish, smoke cigars and be

involved in his county and community organizations, serving on a

number of boards and committees. He was a member of Jubilee Shores

United Methodist Church.

"3">Funeral services will be held Sunday,

Sept. 18, 2011, at 2 p.m., at Mack Funeral Home Chapel with the

Rev. Bill Kierce, the Rev. Brad McLain and the Rev. Marty Hamilton

officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Loxley. A

visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, from 6 until 8

p.m., at Mack Funeral Home.

"3">In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made

to the Jubilee Shores United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1046,

Fairhope, AL 36532.
