GULF SHORES, AL - More than 40 festive floats will light up Gulf Shores on Friday, Dec. 4 as the City hosts its Lighted Christmas Parade and Beach Celebration.
The parade will roll from Clubhouse Drive at 6:30 p.m. and head south to the Gulf Shores Public Beach. A panel of judges including Master Chief Adriana M. Lewis, Gulf Shores High School essay contest winner, Erin Corcoran and hometown inspiration Jacob Mogan will be crowning winners for Most Holiday Spirit, Most Original and Best Overall.
The magical atmosphere from the parade will roll continuously into the night as a celebration at the Gulf Shores Public Beach will kick off immediately following the parade. Families can enjoy stunning lights, pictures with Santa, holiday crafts and a snowball drop. Parade winners will be announced at the Beach Celebration.
The City of Gulf Shores would like to make all residents and visitors aware of the following traffic flow modifications related to the Gulf Shores Lighted Christmas Parade and Beach Celebration on Friday, December 4.
6:15 p.m.
• Highway 59 will close to all traffic south of 20th Avenue. Traffic headed eastbound should take E. 20th Avenue to connect with Canal Road or State Road 2.
• All entrances onto Highway 59 between Clubhouse Drive and Highway 182 will be closed to all traffic until the completion of the parade.
8 p.m.
• All normal traffic conditions will resume along Highway 59. Highway 182 will reopen to eastbound traffic, however, the westbound detour from W. 1st Avenue to W. 2nd Street will remain in place until the conclusion of the Beach Celebration.
