DAPHNE, Ala. — Junior League of Mobile, celebrating 80 years of service in the Mobile community, is opening an office in Daphne.

“JLM’s decision to open an additional worksite in Baldwin County is the culmination of increased membership residing in Baldwin County and increasing human needs present in this community,” said Mary Stewart Crane JLM president for 2010-2011.

“This worksite will allow committees to meet closer to home and to store and stage items needed for community projects. This decision provides our Baldwin County members a convenient workspace that allows them to better balance their life commitments” Crane said.

The Baldwin office will be located at 28740 US Highway 98, Suite 6 in Daphne.  The phone number is 625-6223.  The office will be staffed by active and sustaining volunteer members of the Junior League of Mobile.

A ribbon-cutting was held Aug. 24 at the Baldwin County office.  JLM headquarters office will remain in Mobile at 57 N. Sage Ave.

JLM offers three projects in Baldwin County and will add others in the future if the worksite proves successful.   JLM programming will include work with the CARE House, a backpack program in Baldwin County Schools in conjunction with Bay Area Food Bank and a Community Action Team poised to assist Baldwin County nonprofits with requests for volunteers.

“We look forward to making a greater impact in Baldwin County as we expand our offices and our assistance in the communities JLM serves,” Crane said.
