Of Justin Abel's mini sprint, that hit the wall on the front straight away, flipped and had an alcohol fire, in his mini sprint. The flames were caused by his rubber tires burning. He is in Gainsville, Florida in the burn unit with 2nd degree burns on his face, left shoulder, arm and back. And 3rd degree on his ankles. Justin was pulled out by Justin Kelly, also, of Milton, Florida, who is part of the track safety crew. He is the brave, hero that pulled 14 year old Justin Abel out of his car and put the fire out. Southern Raceway staff did what they could, the fire fighters did not have fire extinguishers on hand, and it took them 3 minutes to get water to the car, and 4 minutes to get the fire under control. Justin Abel was life flighted to p-cola, Florida to their severe burn unit. It took life flight to take off, 10 minutes to take off. Justin remained at the track for one hour after the accident. He was in shock, and didnt start to feel the severe pain until about 35 minutes after his accident.
