Raymond “Ray” Kalis (ne Kalisewicz), died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 6, 1922 in Detroit to Barney and Helen Dubois Kalisewicz.
He married Ruthe Jo Malindzak in 1950 in Wyandotte, Mich..
His family always came first, but when time permitted, he also enjoyed the beach, fishing and a good game of golf.
He was a member of the American Legion for close to 55 years. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Ruthe Jo Kalis; son, Jess (Kathy) Kalis; grandchildren, Jessica Dawson, Emily Kalis, Ashlee Kalis, Nicole Hurtekant and Laura Adkins; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Dawson and Elijah Hurtekant; two sisters, Josephine Martin and Delores Pfaffman.
No services or visitation have been scheduled.
The family requests memorial donations be made to any hospice organization of one’s choice.
