FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Lyons Share Gallery will feature the paintings of Fairhope artist Katherine Fowler during First Friday ArtWalk, Friday, Aug. 1, from 6-8 p.m. and throughout August.

Fowler studied art at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, but decided to put her art career on hold to attend Cumberland School of Law.

Six years ago she gave up her law practice of 20 years and moved to Fairhope to pursue her first love — painting. Her works are primarily figurative oil paintings on linen.

The figures emerge from her fanciful imagination, using a backdrop of wonderful memories of the various stages of her life as well as the lives of the many female friends she has known.

One of Fowler’s paintings appeared on the cover of Mobile Bay Monthly magazine, and recently one of her works was selected to appear in the new book Fairhope and the Eastern Shore: A Painter’s Paradise.
