Kathleen Shamburger "Bean" Hill

Kathleen Shamburger “Bean” Hill, born Dec. 17, 1915 in Butler, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at Robertsdale Health Care.

She lived in Thomasville, where she worked at Sadler’s Grocery Store for many years.

In 1952 she moved to

Bay Minette and worked at Water’s Grocery, Greers, Piggly-Wiggly and Kmart, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Hill; two brothers, Rayford Shamburger and Elbert Shamburger; and a sister, Sarah Macquarrie.

Survivors include two children, Thelma H. (Albert) Jaye of Bay Minette and Sam (Shirley Hill of Uriah; seven grandchildren, Linda (Skip) Turner of Tuscaloosa, Randy (Pam) Jaye of Mobile, Cheryle Brooks of Foley, Robert Hill and Samuel (Melinda) Hill, both of Rochester, Wash., Vicky (Tony) McMillan and Bryan (Nicole) Hill, both of Uriah; three step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 at Norris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Stone and the Rev. Cecil Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
