SOMETHING UNUSUAL ABOUT YOURSELF: I always thought I would be a Peace Corps volunteer.

Kathy Holler has been teaching at Elberta Elementary for 33 years. She has only taught for one year elsewhere. She was the math teacher for seventh, eighth and ninth graders at Leroy High School.

“I felt like teaching was a calling,” Holler says. “I really did. I love children.”

With 34 years of experience, who can argue with that?

Holler’s favorite part about teaching is watching her children discover the joy of learning.

“I love watching their faces light up,” she says. “We are with them so much — they become like our own children.

When Holler isn’t in the classroom, she enjoys going to estate sales, reading, painting and redecorating.

“I love to cook and bake, too.” She says.

Holler is married to Mike Holler.
