Kay Ivey Bridge Dedication

"font-size: x-small">The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce recently

held a ribbon – cutting for the dedication of Kay Ivey Bridge at

Airport Drive. Airport Drive connects West Fern Avenue and County

Road 24 near the Goodrich Aerostructures Facility in Foley.

Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey was instrumental in providing

leadership and funding for the Airport Drive project, which

according to BCEDA Director Robert Ingram, “has already provided a

positive economic impact in Baldwin County.” As Foley’s Mayor, John

Koniar and other city leaders sought help for the project, then

former State Treasurer Kay Ivey helped to get the road and bridge

project completed for South Baldwin County. During the ribbon

cutting ceremony, Lieutenant Governor

Ivey emphasized the State of Alabama’s need for making state

government more efficient and lending a hand to local governmental

progress. Recently, Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey was appointed as

Chairman of Governor Robert Bentley’s newly-created Alabama

Commission on Improving State Government. The Commission was

established by Governor Bentley’s Executive Order Number 4

in order to make government more efficient, effective and

responsive with “minimal or no reduction in services to

citizens.”

General Manager Jeff Raley stated “we have received many calls from

local Foley residents who have noticed a considerable decrease in

heavy truck traffic along Fern Avenue, making them much happier.”

He also commented that Goodrich has recently expanded their

operations with additional hiring and an increased

workload.
