BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Marc Keahey, a Grove Hill Democrat, is the apparent winner in Tuesday’s special general election to replace Pat Lindsey, D-Butler, who died in January.
In unofficial returns, Keahey defeated Greg Albritton, R-Range, by a 58 percent margin.
In Baldwin County, Albriton was the favorite, gaining 55 percent of the vote with a 720-577 margin, according to unofficial returns from the Baldwin County Probate Office.
Keahey was not immediately available for comment.
Senate District 22 encompasses all or part of Baldwin, Mobile, Escambia, Conecuh, Monroe, Clark, Choctaw and Washington counties. There are 15 Baldwin County precincts wholly or in part in Senate District 22, and eight precincts are split.

Albritton received about 57 percent of the votes in April’s Republican Primary in defeating Mobile business owner Judy Belk and Danny Joyner, a Brewton native and former lieutenant of the Brewton Police Department.
About 300 of the 15,000 registered voters cast ballots in the primary, according to Baldwin County Probate Judge Adrian Johns.
Tuesday’s general election brought 1,302 Baldwin voters to the polls.
Lindsey, 72, of Butler was found dead in his bed while on a hunting trip with State Sen. Roger Bedford, Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom Jr. and others.
