World War II hero and family hero William Robert Kelley, a native of Jackson, Tenn., and resident of Fairhope, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.

As a recent Baldwin County "Person to Know," "Bob" was a decorated Normandy Invasion Veteran who recieved two Purple Hearts along with a Bronze Star, in recognition of his valor. He loved his family and the USA.

He studied engineering at the University of Tennessee. He was employed by the GM&O Railroad as a regional marketing manager.

Survivors include the love of his life of 58 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Kelley of Fairhope; son:, Robert (Blaine) Kelley; daughter, Robyn Louise Kelley; two grandchildren, David Andrew and Darcy Elizabeth Kelley, all of Mobile; numerous devoted family and friends.

Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 7 at Jubilee Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were made by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Fairhope.
