Wiley Ennis Kendrick, 76, born Aug. 2, 1933 in Robertsdale, a resident of Moss Point, Miss., died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He grew up in Robertsdale, where he was a farmer for many years. He attended Auburn University , and also served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Iceland. While in the Army he received several military awards. He was also a member of East Moss Point Baptist Church.

After moving to Moss Point about 37 years ago, he became owner of Kemp Hardware and Pas-Point Antique Mall until he retired in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Veston and Rebecca Kemp Kendrick; first wife, Billie Childress Kendrick; sister, Wylene McCrory; brother, Calvin Kendrick Jr. and father-in-law, Maurice Tanner.

Survivors include his loving wife of 23 1/2 years, Wanda Tanner Kendrick of Moss Point, Miss.; son, Darron (Kate) Kendrick of Point Clear; sister, Frances (Roy) Hand of Denham Springs, La.; brother, Dale (Barbie) Kendrick of Atlanta; mother-in-law, Maud Leigh Tanner; brother-in-law, Fred McCrory of Birmingham; sisters-in-law; Barbara (Julian) Fisher, Janet (George) Gammill, both of Moss Point, Miss., and Bea Kendrick of Robertsdale; grandchildren, Kelli, Leslie, Katie, and Nicolas Kendrick; great-grandson, John Dukes; step-grandson, Davis Lawson; a host of nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews, other family members and many, many dear friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services and visitation were held Wednesday, Sept. 16 at East Moss Point Baptist Church with Brother Allen Hays, Brother Kevin Hand, and Brother Barry Davis officiating. Graveside services followed at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

Pallbearers were Ryan Fisher, Kyle Fisher, Travis Gammill, Brad Kendrick, Brent Kendrick, Mike McCrory, Christopher Kendrick, Court Kendrick, and George Gammill. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Wilks, Al Hawkins, Jerry Alexander, Larry Carpenter and Pete White.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Terry Millette; caregivers Dorothy McCorvey, Fannie Torrey, Annie Singleton and Winnie Williams. The family would also like to thank the Hospice of Light staff, nurse Samantha Williams, and aide Sheila Hinton for their excellent care of Mr. Ennis Kendrick.

The family requests memorial donations be made to East Moss Point Baptist Church.
