Kenneth Lane “KV” Vines, 60, a native of Prichard, raised in Perdido and a resident of Orange Beach for more than 30 years, died Friday, Feb. 18 after sustaining a head injury due to a fall.
The owner and operator of KV Yacht Brokerage, he was a lively figure on the docks of local marinas, boat launches and waterways. He was a founding member of the Elberta Sausage Festival and the Orange Beach Seafood Festival.
An avid sport fishing enthusiast, he was a member of the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club, Pensacola Big Game Fishing Club, The Billfish Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association, and the Orange Beach Sport Fishing Club. His dedication to our coastal community and the families that make Orange Beach a great place to live will be remembered and cherished forever.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Vines of Orange Beach; daughter, Lane L. Vines of Orange Beach; son, Harrison W. Vines of Orange Beach; two brothers, Erskine Vines Jr. of Perdido and Howell D. “Wayne” Vines of Stockton; sister, Charlotte Vines Krajniah of Onondaga, Mich.; many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at noon, Saturday, March 5 at St. Thomas by the Sea Catholic Church, Orange Beach. A reception will follow in the church parish hall. The family would welcome photos to be placed in a scrapbook.
