Kevin Layne Gilmore died Wedn esday, Aug. 25, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 15, 1956, in Anniston. He had a green thumb, and was forever rooting new plants and encouraging them to thrive. He worked most of his life with food — growing it, cooking it, selling it. He served as grill master for many family cookouts. He also loved fishing, playing guitar, listening to Jimmy Buffet, and having a good drink and good times with friends.
He leaves behind many who will miss him greatly.
Survivors include his wife, Thérèse Impastato Gilmore; their children, Andrew, Patrick, Joseph, Sarah, Nathan, and Luke Gilmore, all of Montrose; mother-in-law, Poe M. Impastato, of Montrose; father-in-law, T.P. “Red” Impastato, of Lacombe, La.; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Rose Impastato Metzger, Keyser and Becky Impastato, Nelson and Ivania Impastato, Gus and Fara Impastato Bakhtiar, all from Mobile and Baldwin counties, Hagan and Mary Impastato Waller of Florida, Sam Impastato of Mississippi, Philip Impastato of Deleware, John Impastato of Ohio, Joseph Impastato, and Steve and Génie Impastato Lorentzen, from California; numerous nieces and nephews, Dean and Cheryl Metzger Peiskee, and Leah Metzger of Texas, Michelle Waller of Colorado; Erin and Dylan Waller of Florida, David, Analisa, Katy, Connor, Max, and Christian Impastato of Fairhope, Guiseppe and AnaMaria Impastato of Deleware, Frankie, Briar, Kaden Impastato, and Laura and David Valverde of Mobile, Nazanine, Jaleh, and James Cyrus Bakhtiar of Mobile, Stephen and Taylor Lorentzen of California, Chris and Wendy Beals of Oxford, Ala.; one grand nephew and two grand nieces, Jack and Gracie Beals of Oxford, and Rebecca Peiskee of Fort Worth, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope.
