Grace E. Kinard, 90, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., former resident of Silverhill and resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

She was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and Church Officer; a member of the choir and Lutheran Ladies Aid; worked almost 20 years at Thomas Hospital and previously worked at Walker’s 5 & Dime Store, Fred’s Dollar Store and Marietta Johnson Organic School; and was a member of the Red Hat Society and the VFW Auxiliary in Fairhope.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy D. Kinard.

Survivors include four daughters, Arlene Eddins of Brick, N.J., Elizabeth Lane of Leakesville, Miss., Nancy Smith and Judy Terrell, both of Fairhope; five sons, Fred (Marilyn) Kinard of Theodore, Thomas (Joyce) Kinard of Silverhill, Johnny (Nell) Kinard of Chickasaw, James (Ann) Kinard of Fairhope and Roy “Sonny” Kinard of Ehrhardt, S.C.; 25 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21 at Mack Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Silverhill Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Fairhope VFW or your favorite charity.
