ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Orange Beach reels in another big one! In October’s “bright blue weather” it’s the kingfish at risk, on Oct. 4-5.

As the Spaniards say, “The fish dies by opening its mouth.” This is a warning to people who talk too much, but this is sports fishing where the catch has a good chance of surviving.

Inland, such as Ouachita and Ohio, it’s bass and walleye, but on the Gulf it’s the king. The tourneys have been on the move this year from Ft. Pierce, Fla., to Southport, N.C., and from Galveston, Texas, to Dauphin Island, but Orange Beach has the championship with a $275,000 purse.  First place wins $70,000, which includes the award and boat bonuses.

This bright blue weather excitement on Oct. 4-5 is hosted by the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission, Brett/Robinson Realty, the City of Orange Beach, and The Wharf, which is also the Marina.

Registration at The Wharf is on Wednesday, Oct 3, 4-6 p.m. Go to www.thewharfal.com for more details on time and place.
