Marion DeVieg MacLachlan Kingston, born Sept. 4, 1920, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 after a rich and full life.
She was born in Minnesota, lived in New York, Pennsylvania and California before moving to Oregon as a young adult.
She began a lifetime of service to the American Red Cross first as a volunteer during World War II, later as a disaster-relief social worker for hurricanes during Camille and Agnes, and the evacuation ov Vietnamese peoples to Guam.
In 1948 she married George W. Kingston, then a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and together they shared many adventures in Istanbul, London, Charleston and Washington D.C. They retired to Baldwin County in the 1970s where they were both active in many organizations.
She was a longtime member of the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center Board, the Foley Performing Arts Center Board and was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include a sister, Jane (Jim) Armpriese of Salem, Ore.; nieces, Diane Armpriese of Moscow, Idaho, and Lynne Reinoso of Salem, Ore.; nephew, David Armprise of Rosedale, Calif.; step-son, Frank Kingston of Pensacola.
Her family also wishes to thank and remember her good friends from Baldwin County who shared their lives with her, and all those who helped care for her during the last years of her life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Baldwin Animal Rescue Center.
