ELBERTA — Steve Kirkpatrick has announced his candidacy for mayor of Elberta.
“I hope everyone is equally excited to support me and my ideas to bring change to our town,” he said. “I feel I am qualified to hold this position.”
For the last 16 years Kirkpatrick has served on the Elberta Town Council, serving on various committees, such as: chairman of the Utilities Board, Fire and Police commissioner for 11 years and the Finance and Personnel Committee, as well as serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission for 14 years.
For the last four years Kirkpatrick has served as mayor pro-tem. He has also actively been a member of the Elberta Fire Department for 22 years, holding the position of fire chief for the last 16 years . He completed both Basic and Advanced Certified Elected Official courses taught by the Alabama League of Municipalities.
Kirkpatrick has been a business owner for more than 34 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Foley. He has been married for 23 years to Doreen Quates Kirkpatrick and together, they have four children.
Kirkpatrick served six years of military service in the Army and ARNG. He is also a member of The American Legion Post 99 in Foley.
“When I speak of change I mean, a new leader, one that will work together alongside others in a productive way to get the job done,” he said. “I will listen to all your concerns and do what I can to implement ways to make each and every one of your ideas be a part of the growth or change to our town. I will bring with this hard work, loyalty, and determination to make the town of Elberta the best place to live. We have a long way to go, but we need to start today.”
