I am very proud of Congressman Jo Bonner for having the courage to say “No” to the Washington power mongers and to vote against the Health Reform Bill.
Why should we allow the government to take over 1/6th of our economy, the biggest power grab in the history of this country, to the tune of over 1 trillion dollars. What has the government ever managed that was more cost-effective and effecient than the private sector? The U.S. Post Office? Amtrack? Both poorly run government organizations. I could name more.
I am a small business owner. Small businesses provide 80 percent of all jobs in our country. If, under this bill, I do not provide government health care for my employees, all part-time, I will pay a tax of 12 percent. This tax alone will put many businesses out of operation, causing even more job loss. If we do not buy the government insurance we could be subject to imprisonment. Interestingly enough, our president and many senators have stated that neither they nor their families will use this wonderful govenment plan.
Included in the bill is money for abortion on demand and free health care for illegal aliens. I do not want my hard-earned tax dollars to pay for either of these. We are told by the politicians and media that death panels, rationing and physician selections are not included. Do not believe this. Also, on Page 1,430, a statement is made that payments to states will be decreased if any limitations are made to trial lawyers payments and fees!
If this bill is such a good thing for Americans, why is it being done so quickly with no debate or disclosure? We have requested that it be put online for public viewing for 72 hours, but our Speaker of the House did not allow this to happen. We are not allowed to read a bill that will change the life of every American. Is this still our country?
I do not believe that Health Care Reform is about providing care for people. There are too many other more cost-effective ways to do this. If health care does pass, as payback to the unions that spent billions getting our president elected, all health-care workers will be unionized. This will only add to the outrageous cost of this monstrosity. Can our country afford it? Can you?
