L. A. Boomers on the go! Bellingrath Gardens

Well naturally L. A. stands for Lower Alabama - what else could it mean?

Bellingrath Gardens may never be the same again!  On Saturday, April 14, 2012, 20 members of the South Alabama Senior Travelers of Foley, Ala., traveled to Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, Ala., where they enjoyed a fun filled day.

After check in, a ride aboard the Southern Belle was first on the agenda. Following this very informative tour on Fowl River, there was a guided tour of the Bellingrath Home, a beautiful sight to behold.

Sitting or standing in either the shade or sun was not an issue with this traveling group of Boomers as they enjoyed BBQ sandwiches prepared by The Shed.  The Shed was located on the Big Lawn, along with the annual Camellia Classic Open Car Show.  Great memories were had by all as they viewed car after car.

My favorite was the 1957 Chevrolet.  During 1957, my husband and I owned a yellow ’57 Chevy which made us top dog in the neighborhood. It was truly a sad day when we parted with this yellow bird.

Several Azalea Trail Maids graced the lawn in their absolutely awesome antebellum dresses as entertainment was provided for all to enjoy.

This group of fun filled L.A. Boomers enjoyed the gardens for several hours before heading home.

Anticipation and excitement hangs in the air as another trip is being planned for the very near future which will take them to another interesting location.

This group of 20 fun filled L. A. Boomers are: Bea Anderson, Eileen Bostic, Anne Gres, Brenda Holthoff, Lora Horn, Cary Klein, Eugene Klein, Margaret Klein, Curt Lawson, Marvelene Lawson, Barbara Michaels, Reuben Michaels, Carol Morgan, Tom Morgan, Marie Noggle, Vivian Prickle, Harold Schneider, Lois Schneider, Marie Thompson and Escort Louise Childs
