L.A. Leonard, 89, a native of Orlando, Fla. and resident of Foley, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014.
Mr. Leonard was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Coast Guard.
He owned and operated the Gulf service station in Magnolia Springs for several years then worked in yard maintenance.
He enjoyed flowers and had a knack for making things grow.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lydia Mae Leonard.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Leonard; three sons, Alex Leon Leonard Jr., Jerry Wayne Leonard and Darrell Leonard, all of Foley; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Miller Memorial Cemetery in Gulf Shores.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
