The state champion volleyball Admirals of Bayside Academy are taking the lead for a good cause and asking for community support in the replacement blood drive for Michael Niemeyer of Fairhope. Niemeyer is awaiting liver transplant surgery and is the dad of Lady Admirals senior and team captain Maggie Niemeyer. The Blood drive is set for Friday, Dec. 3 from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Way Community Church, 23800 Highway 98, in Montrose between Fairhope and Daphne. All blood types are needed and preferred time blocks can be reserved online at blooddrive4michael@yahoo.com. The drive is sponsored by Ashurst & Niemeyer Realty, The Way Community Church, Bayside Volleyball and Bayside Academy Service Clubs. All donors will receive a Saints/Blood Bank T-shirt, mini physical and cholesterol test. Donors are encouraged to eat a healthy meal ahead of time and a picture ID is required.
