DAPHNE, Ala. – The Bayside Lady Admirals took a runaway win to open the New Year 62-8 over visiting Washington County Tuesday.

The 3A Area 1 victory extended the Bayside girls area record to 3-0 and 7-8 overall.

Virginia Pittman led the way with a game high 18 points. Danielle diPretoro added 17 points for the Lady Ads. Teammates Gabby Deshotel had eight, Jhalen Caffey seven, Caroline Beebe six, Brittany Houseman three and Kate Passmore two as Bayside went 10-of-19 from the free-throw line. K. Price scored four for WCHS.

Bayside coach Brittany Davidson was happy with the effort as well as the result against the Lady Bulldogs (4-6).

“We set the tone from the tip off,” she said. “We came out aggressive and played with intensity. I thought that we came out and played hard and played as a team. We had great play from our bench. Our perimeter game was hitting shots as well as the post play. I was really proud of how each player played tonight. We still have to work on our free-throw shooting and unforced turnovers.”

Bayside led 15-3 after the first period and held WCHS scoreless in the second to lead 27-3 at the half.

The Lady Admirals hit the road to face T.R. Miller in Brewton Friday at 5 p.m. Davidson expects the Tigers to be a more physical opponent and hopes her team plays with the same aggressive intensity.

“T. R. Miller is a real tough physical team. They play very aggressive and are a well coached team. We will need to come ready to play just like we came to play tonight.”
