FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Fairhope Lady Pirates (9-8, 3-0 6A Area 3) had three girls score double-digit points Friday and used strong defense to win 48-22 against the Foley Lady Lions (2-15, 1-3).
Raven Priolo led the Lady Pirates with a double-double, scoring 10 points and bringing down 11 rebounds. Meagan Dowdy ran the offense, helping the Lady Pirates jump out to their early advantage with 11 points, five assists and two steals.
“You have to stop her,” Fairhope head coach Jessica Webb said about Dowdy after the game, “and if you do, you better have someone guarding that extra pass. Whoever steps up to her, she’s going to find that extra person.”
Fairhope sprinted out of the gates with a 12-3 run through the first five minutes of play, and the lady Lions struggled to get anything going offensively. They trailed 31-8 heading into half time.
“Our defense was as good as it has ever been in the first half,” Webb said. “We really turned it on. Our defense led to a lot of our offense.”
Foley only scored six points in the third quarter and eight points in the fourth quarter, which was not enough to climb back into the game.
Philomene Adams, Brittney Davis and Kimberly Parks scored four points for the Lady Lions, which led the team.
Kali Martin also ended in the double-digit scoring group, adding 10 points for Fairhope, and Amber Maurer brought down seven rebounds.
