BAY MINETTE — The Faulkner State Lady Sun Chiefs scored the game's first six points and never trailed in romping past visiting Enterprise State 67-39 Thursday night at Robertson Arena in Bay Minette.

Coach Linda Pitts' Chiefs improved to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in division play with the victory.

"Its always good to open the division with a win," Pitts said.

Faulkner led 34-19 at halftime, stretched the lead to twenty moments after the start of the second half, and led by as many as 30 in the final half before winning by 28.

Eleven players scored for FSCC with three reaching double figure point totals. Tiera Henry led the way with 14 points while Kelsey Hutchins and Tequisha Robinson had twelve apiece for the home team. Shuntavia Harris added six while Devan Cleveland had five.

Diamond Williams, Carlissa Coker, and Deidre Jones all scored four points with Briana Allen, Akira Hutchinson, and Marionna Pride all adding two points.

Pride, Robinson and Hutchins all had early buckets to stake the Sun Chiefs to a quick 6-0 advantage. Baskets by Coker, Cleveland, and Jones pushed it to a 12-4 lead and a three pointer and two layups off of steals made it 19-8.

A Robinson three pointer and a baseline jumper from Hutchins stretched it to 24-13 with a three pointer from Jones to end the half making the score 34-19 at intermission. A pair of inside buckets from Harris spiked a 10-0 run early in the second half and when Hutchins nailed a three from beyond the arc, the score was 54-32.

Baskets from Robinson and Allen and another three from Hutchins along with two free throws each from Hutchins and Cleveland closed out the rout.

Faulkner stays at home for a Saturday afternoon game at 3 p.m. against Faulkner University J.V. and then travels to Andalusia on Monday to meet league rival L.B. Wallace.
