Ashley Wooten took a pass from Rebekah Diring and kicked it past Foley keeper Kristen Beckish with 9:03 left in the first half for the game’s only score.

“I feel like we played composed soccer, I felt like we were confident,” Spanish Fort head coach Barclay Kercher said. “I thought we had good touches, something we worked on in practice yesterday.”

Spanish Fort keeper Johannah Scott picked up the shutout and the Toro defense held Foley to just two recorded shots on goal.

“Our defense played great tonight,” Kercher said. “Our offense and defense both played great. It was a great team effort.”

Beckish made 10 saves for the Lions, who host Daphne on Friday.

“I can always depend on Kristen for a lot,” Foley head coach Danielle Pfizenmayer said. “And my defense played really well. We had three out of four starters on defense and they played great.”
