DAPHNE, Ala. – The Lady Trojans ended their final home matches with a pair of wins over 6A Area 3 opponent Foley 27-25,25-8, 25-15 and 6A Area 1 leader Baker 25-15, 21-25, 25-22.

DHS coach Edoli Herrion said getting the area win was big, but was also happy about topping the Baker Hornets after falling to them early in the year.

"I was really ecstatic about beating Baker," she said. "That win really felt good. At the beginning of our season when we lost to them at the Fairhope tournament, we never actually showed up as a team. I honestly think it hurt our confidence in our game as a team. From that point we had to regroup and actually find out what our goal was as a team. I must say I am proud of my girls. They showed up with a win mentality and followed through on our senior night to close out our home matches."

The home court honored senior players Kaylin Lee, Cherilyn Ramsey and Deanna Vogler and team manager Tiffany Nabors who has been with the team for four years.

Ramsey had 23 kills, three aces, nine blocks and 10 digs; Vogler had 14 kills, seven aces, nine blocks and nine digs; Lee had seven kills, two aces, a block, three assists and 11 digs; Kayla Owens had 33 assists, 17 digs, seven kills and two aces; Krista Owens had 33 digs, an ace and a kill.

Herrion said finishing the regular season strongly will help heading into the post season.

"Definitely a good sign. We are finishing up regular season now and will be competing with our area foes one last time to see who will advance on to regional play. I am excited to begin with the area tournament and most definitely excited about the post season play. This is what we have been working for. This is when everything matters."
