DAPHNE, Alabama —The Lady Trojans dominated the visiting Theodore girls from whistle to horn to take a 52-16 home win at Daphne High's Jubilee Gym Thursday night.

Teira Green led Daphne and all scorers with a 15-point total as teammates Kirsten Henton and Taylor Wright each added eight points and the Lady Trojans improved to 9-5 overall. The 3-7 Lady 'Cats were led by Adria Roland who finished with nine points.

"I liked the way we played the whole game more according to plan tonight," said DHS head coach Terrance Pinkney. "We came out more aggressive and kept the tempo up. It was also a good way to head into the Holiday break with a home win that everyone got to play in and also played with a significant number of minutes and almost everybody scored. That will help us later. Especially if we come back and keep playing with the intensity we had tonight for the whole game. Consistency in attitude and skill is important."

DHS led 15-2 after the opening eight-minute period, led 28-9 at the half and held a 44-14 margin after the third period. But Pinkney added that his team has things to work on if they want to defeat teams like McGill-Toolen Catholic and repeat as 6A Area 2 champs.

"When we beat Baker (41-31) the other night (Tuesday), we got kind of out of focus, lost our intensity at times. But we were fortunate to make some plays and finish OK. Tonight they stayed on the plan and I think they understand what we have to do from the beginning to the end—hustle, run, cut down on unnecessary fouls and never let up. We are just too small to play half-court ball. We have to press and run the whole game, especially against good teams like McGill.

"But I'm encouraged. I think they see better and better why we play the way we do and why we still need to work on ball control, better passing and shooting all the time. Our defense is good and has kept us in some games, but could be better. And we need to work on shooting better at the line and on things like following shots and blocking out better on every play. But I'm proud of the effort. This is a great group and they know what's at stake. They have a chance to win the area back-to-back-to-back and they don't want to hand it off."

The Lady Trojans reopen the 2013 half of the season at home Jan. 4 when the Gulf Shores Lady Dolphins visit at 6:30 p.m. Theodore is set to visit Baker Jan. 4 at 6 p.m.
