Lagoon Baptist Church to host Homecoming service Sunday

GULF SHORES, Ala. — The members of Lagoon Baptist Church would like to extend an invitation to everyone in the community to join them for a Homecoming worship service Sunday morning. The

Service will feature Rev. Andrew Voss, a former youth leader at the church. Voss is married to a descendant of the church’s founding members.

The church was founded in April 1919 and is just two months shy of celebrating its 90th birthday.

“Because of the special occasion, we will not hold our 8:30 a.m. service or Sunday School,” Church secretary Christine Wallace said. “Instead, we will have just one extended worship service at 10:30 a.m. followed by dinner on the grounds.”

Wallace said she invites everyone to come to the church at 10 a.m. for a coffee and doughnuts fellowship before the service begins.

Chalk artist Tom Morris of Orangeville, Pa., with more than 20 years experience in his chalk art ministry, will perform during a special children’s worship service Sunday.

“We will have special music and a video presentation of past memories,” Wallace said. “We want to welcome all of our former members, pastors and staff as well as visitors and current members to this memorable occasion.”

The church is located at 17867 Highway 180 West (Fort Morgan Road), two miles west of Highway 59.
