DAPHNE, Ala.— Contractors performing Lake Forest capital roadwork said at a status meeting Thursday that the work was progressing ahead of schedule, and many aspects of the project have already been completed.

On Thursday, the contractor announced that all work on Lawson Road would be completed on May 20 with the exception of paving. All curbing between Worchester Drive North and Lawson Road has also been completed, top soil and sod have been placed in medians where work has commenced, under drains have been installed along Bay View Drive, and drainage work on Ridegwood Drive south of Lawson Road has been completed.

Next week, property owners with property between 424 and 482 Ridgewood Drive, 425 and 469 Ridgewood Drive and at 101 Lawson Road and 100 Cherry Hill Road can expect to be amid roadwork.

In the upcoming week, contractors expect the city’s grounds crews to begin working to plant trees between Worcester and Ridgewood Drive. Work will also continue on curbing the property along Ridgewood Drive south of Lawson Road, beginning with the northbound lane.

There will be no roadwork on May 30 in observance of Memorial Day.

Lake Forest residents can continue to expect traffic delays as a result of the construction during working hours. Flaggers will be placed along the affected areas to direct traffic.

Daphne’s Public Works Department will hold status meetings regarding the Lake Forest capital road improvements each Thursday and send email updates on Fridays.
