DAPHNE, Ala.— In 43 days, contractors working on the Lake Forest capital roadwork said at a status meeting Thursday that the work was progressing ahead of schedule, and many aspects of the project have been completed.

On Thursday, the contractor announced that full-depth base repairs were underway on Ridgewood Drive north of Lawson Road. The old asphalt has been milled out and removed. The contractor also announced that valley gutter curbing was 100 percent completed on the property side of Ridgewood Drive south of Lawson Road.

Top soil and sod have been placed in the medians of Ridgewood Drive north of Lawson Road.

Drainage work on Ridgewood Drive off of Bay View Drive and tree removal on Bay View Drive are underway.

In the upcoming week, property owners with property between 424 and 482 Ridgewood Drive, 425 and 469 Ridgewood Drive, at 101 Lawson Road and 100 Cherry Hill Road, between 485 and 521 Ridgewood Drive and 486 and 532 Ridgewood Drive can expect to be in the midst of roadwork.

Contractors expect the paving to begin June 3 on Ridgewood Drive north of Lawson Road. The final asphalt wearing will also be placed starting June 6.

Curbing and tree removal work will continue.

Lake Forest residents can continue to expect traffic delays as a result of the construction during working hours. Flaggers will be placed along the impacted areas to direct traffic.
