Lana Silverthorn, a native of Eufaula Ala. and resident of Magnolia Springs, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011.
Lana was a happy and positive spirit throughout her life. She was a magnificent story teller. She loved teaching, gardening, reading, Southern culture and, above all, people. She lived and enjoyed her life completely.
Lana had a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas, and was the director of the writing program at the University of South Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her dear friend, Patricia Carol Stephens; parents, Wilber James Silverthorn and Ruby Mae Hester Silverthorn; grandparents, James Underwood Hester and Eva Mae Hester; aunt, Pearla Hester Hendrix; cousins, Rosa Lee and Phillip Jay Little, Annie Maude Gordan, and Tim and Nancy Phillips; and nephew, Justin Edwards Hartman.
She is survived by her cousins, Charles and Deborah Skipper, Harry Bob and Mary Lee Spiller, Cecil and Illa Hartley, Terry and Linda Greathouse and Theresia Carroll; niece, Suzanne Musgrove; nephew, Thomas Craig Stephens; and her godchildren, Anna K. Stephens, Will Musgrove and Sims Musgrove.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Magnolia Springs.
