Rich Lancaster, 58, born July 12, 1951, a 30-year resident of Gulf Shores, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009.
He was a graduate of the University of Virginia and worked in marketing and radio advertising in Virginia before moving to Gulf Shores.
He was active in community theatre as an actor and director in both Baldwin County and Pensacola, Fla., and was a longtime volunteer with the annual Frank Brown Songwriters Festival.
He was a licensed real estate agent with Perdido Key Realty and had a longtime business association with Fountain & Smith Environmental, of Brewton. He attended New Life Christian Church in Orange Beach.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a loving friend to all that knew him. He will be sadly missed by so many long time friends, including Donny and Katherine Fountain, Bridgett Eckerle, Brucie Glassell and Bill Lagman.
Survivors include his mother Anne Lancaster of Richmond, Va.; and a sister, Anne Lancaster Bell, of Richmond.
Services will be held in Richmond, Va., and a memorial service will be held in Gulf Shores at a later date.
